Using names or birthdays as a password or using the same password for multiple accounts is a huge security risk. If you want high grade security for your login information or other sensitive details, then 1Password should definitely catch your attention. It offers a universal storage solution for login credentials, bank information, licenses and much more. The application uses a powerful encryption protocol to keep your data safe. Also, its controls are very well organized and easy to understand, so anyone can use this application without any problems, on their Macs, PCs and on their iOS or Android mobile devices.

When you start 1Password for the first time, you must specify a master password. Making this password difficult to figure out and remembering it is very important. If you lose or forget this password, you may lose access to all your accounts and private information. The application allows you to store general login information, private notes, credit card and bank information, passport details, social security numbers and anything else worth protecting. Furthermore, you may create multiple entries in each of these categories. When you are done storing information or if you don't need to view it, you can just click a lock icon and the application will seal your database and keep it that way until you type in your master password.

The aforementioned categories are listed on the left side of the user interface, along with options for viewing all entries, favorite ones, as well as security audit information. The entries themselves are displayed next to the categories list, with rich icons and their contents are displayed in the larger area, on the right side of the window. Creating new entries involves filling in a series of input fields, but you may also use special tools along the way, like a password generator.

1Password's auto-fill capabilities are also worth mentioning. Besides displaying "Copy" options next to usernames or passwords, the application also displays an option for launching the corresponding login page and filling in the username and password automatically. Even if someone is looking over your shoulder, they won't be able to figure out your login information. The same can be done on large sign-up sheets. Instead of typing the information yourself, you can fill out the entire sheet with a single click. The application will place an icon on the menu bar and it also comes with browser plug-ins, which make your stored information easier to access.

Pros

You can store sensitive information in a secure database. The application allows you to categorize your information in an efficient manner. Also, its auto-fill capabilities can save you from a lot of effort.

Cons

If you are not a Mac OS X Yosemite user yet, you will have to look around the developer's web page to find the installation kit for Mavericks or older versions. With 1Password's powerful protection capabilities, any sensitive data you can think of will stay safe at all times.
